Sumedi Nugraha

Sumedi Nugraha’s professional interests are in adult learning, self-directed learning, cross cultural studies, educational technology, test and evaluation, human resource development, and website development and maintenance. Currently he works as an independent consultant, and he is very involved with community organizations in Lexington, Kentucky where he resides with his family.

Dr. Nugraha worked in different capacities on campus as a degree-seeking student at Florida State University (Tallahassee, Florida). He was a program assistant in the adult education program, where he assisted in the administration and mentoring of distance education students. He was also a facilitator in the FSU International Center, where assisted in the in the maintenance of websites and with publications, a role which enabled him to acquire skills in computer and website publishing.

He started his professional career in Indonesia. For two years, he was an expert in test development and administration in the Examination Center at the Indonesian Open Learning University. Additionally, he was for two years a researcher and evaluator with a focus on staff development and higher education

He earned a Ph.D. degree in adult education in 2005 from Florida State University, a Master of Science in Educational Psychology in 1996, also at Florida State University, and a Master of Education degree in the management of distance education in 1988 at Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada). He and his family resided in Indonesia, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Gadjah Mada University in 1985, and they moved to the United States in 1992.
